This yoga holiday between the fjords of Norway is a real adventure that will nourish your body, soul, and spirit. You can turn yourself off completely and make a new restart.
Molde is a city and municipality in Romsdal, in Møre and Romsdal county, Norway. It is a small town by the Moldefjord with a population of 26822. Molde is a very calm and relaxing city, famous for its amazing views. It is surrounded by fjords and close to several remarkable hiking trails and viewpoints. Book your flight to Molde, Årø airport.
We will pick you up from the Molde airport during the day, but it is best to arrive on the 16.45 or 17.00 flight from Oslo. It is not a problem when you arrive earlier on that day or by bus or ferry. Transfer from the airport or bus station is included in the price. On the first day, we have a welcome dinner all together at 18.00.
The retreat days will start with walking or driving to the local yoga studio for morning yoga and pranayama. The walk is around 5 minutes from the hotel or 5-20 minutes from your accommodation. If your accommodation is not so close, you will be together with other people and have a car to drive to the yoga studio. Don't worry if you don't drive, you will be accommodated together with someone who does. We use rental cars that have insurance included. The rental car fee is included in the price.
Guided hiking tours are every day different. We will walk 5-10 km per day, elevation 400-700 m.a.s.l. with slow pace and breaks.
The daily yoga you do during the retreat provides a good start for the day and helps you regenerate from the physical challenges of the hikes. This helps you to stay fit and will make you return home completely relaxed after your yoga and hiking holiday. Practicing yoga regularly can be challenging if you have a busy schedule. But when you are on a retreat, you will have two classes offered a day, which will ensure your progress and you will feel positive effects more quickly. Going to a new place creates an opportunity to see the world, and yourself, in a new light. Experiencing the unknown is an accelerated way to grow and learn. When you have extended free time, it's a lot easier to meditate. No cell phone buzzing or boss reminding you about deadlines. On retreats, it feels a lot more natural to breathe deeply and be present in the moment. You will relax and de+stress. You will eat well without having to do all the work. You will replace new habits and make new friends.
Our retreat is very popular among solo travelers.
After this week, you will have experienced fantastic hiking trails, improved your yoga skills, and met like-minded people. You will take lots of good memories with you and return home looking forward to your next trip.
You will start the days with pranayama and vinyasa flow yoga. After yoga, it is time to enjoy breakfast and prepare yourself for hiking. Every day is slightly different. You will have some shorter and some longer hikes, 5-10 km, about 500-700 m.a.s.l. with amazing views. During the hikes, you will find cozy places to rest and refuel, while enjoying the lunch package. Yin and/or restorative yoga after hikes helps you to stretch your muscles and recover.

Some examples of hiking:
Troll Church, 484 m.a.s.l., consists of three exciting limestone and marble grottos with underground streams and a beautiful waterfall. On the surface, to the west of the uppermost grotto, there is a lake with white marble "jetties". The mountain behind the Trolls' church is very distinctive, with jagged points and spires. Sometimes we hike only to the caves and lake but with real adventurers, we will hike further over the mountain ridge (832 m.a.s.l.) and make a loop back to the cave.
Jendemsfjellet, 633 m.a.s.l. is a mountain near Molde with a breathtaking 360-degree view over the fjords and mountains.
Sjurvarden and Atlantic Road trip. The Atlantic Road has National Tourist Route status, and the entire stretch between Bud and Kristiansund is one continuous experience packed with coastal scenery, culture, and history. The road that crosses this “infamous stretch of the ocean” was hailed as the world’s best road trip by the British newspaper The Guardian. In 2006. The 8.3 km (5 miles) road, with 8 bridges of a total length of 891 meters, is built on several small islands and skerries and is spanned by eight bridges and several landfills. Sjurvarden, 667 m.a.s.l. is the mountain that stretches out to the sea, giving a powerful view of Hustadvika, the Atlantic Ocean, and the coastal landscape from Sunnmøre in the west and Smøla on Nordmøre in the north.
Trollstiegen or the Troll ladder/road is a famous mountain road with narrow curves and sharp hairpin bends. The road has 11 hairpin curves and an elevation of 850 m. Every bend has its name. The road is narrow with a gradient of 9 % but passing pockets have been incorporated and traffic normally flows without a problem. An impressive bridge in natural stone carries it across the Stigfossen waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Norway. Stigfossen is an unregulated and powerful waterfall with a total height of 240 m, from which 180 m is almost a single drop.
Romsdalseggen is for advanced hikers. It takes 9-10 hours to hike over the mountain ridge. During your trip, you have a fantastic viewing arena with views over the mountains and the most distinctive peaks. The hike is 10 km long, and the height difference is about 970 meters. It is airy, but a breathtaking experience standing on top of the ridge. People with a mild degree of fear of heights will, with a good companion to lean on, manage to get through the toughest part of the hike.
Litlefjellet, 790 m.a.s.l., is a great and very light version of Romsdalseggen. You have to walk up only 20-30 minutes.
Mardalsfossen is Northern Europe`s highest waterfall, 297 m free fall, a total of 655 m. You can go right up to the waterfall and get a decent shower. It is not so much hiking to the waterfall, it is a nice walk and suitable for people who are not so fit or for your lazy days. But driving more up to Aursjøvegen there are several 180-degree hairpins turns and dramatic nature that might take your breath away. The trip from the fertile Eikesdalen valley, with steep mountains on each side, up to the high mountains with their open and magnificent landscape is beautiful. Mardalsfossen trip is available only from June 20-August 20 but driving Aursjøvegen is possible from June until September.

Yoga is for everyone. You do not need to be very experienced in it, but if you are, good for you! The morning yoga will be a traditional Hatha yoga class. I always give you easy options and more advanced ones. The pace of the class depends on the group level. There are almost always some beginners and some more experienced practitioners together on the retreat and it is a good thing since then we can learn from each other. The Morning yoga class is usually 75 minutes with pranayama and relaxation.
Please be aware that it is a very active holiday. If you need a more relaxing holiday, you are still welcome to participate, but we strongly recommend you to skip some hiking trips and yoga classes. To walk in the mountains every day for 5 days is physically demanding, even if we are walking slowly and only around 500 m.a.s.l. If you have some injuries or knee problems, please take your walking sticks with you. The most important things are good walking shoes, a positive mind, and the ability to listen to your own body.
The weather in Norway may change rapidly. If it is raining heavily there is an option to spend a day in a local water park Moldebadet, visit the museum or have a raw chocolate workshop.
