Haines is called the "Adventure Capital of Alaska" and it is located on the Lynn Canal, a 98-mile long fjord surrounded by snowcapped peaks and glaciers, perched on the edge of the largest protected wilderness on the planet. Brown bears roam the rivers, bald eagles cruise the skies, orcas and river otters are frequent visitors.
Book your flight to Juneau International Airport, Alaska. You can take a ferry or a plane to Haines from Juneau. The flight is an exciting journey in a small craft, the ferry is a four-and-a-half-hour ride through gorgeous scenery. We can pick you up at either the ferry terminal or the airport in Haines.
The scenery in Haines Alaska is jaw-dropping. Situated at the end of a peninsula at the 60th degree north, the weather is variable, even in summer. Participants should bring sturdy rain gear and hiking shoes, and be moderately fit. Yoga mats and assorted props are included, so no need to bring those from home.
Leonie is a certified yoga instructor, experienced vegan chef, and adventure athlete.
She has been practicing yoga and meditation for 30 years. She loves to create space for people to connect to their bodies and breath. She also enjoys cooking plant-based meals, leading hikes, and sharing her love for natural history and geology. Her boundless energy, the joy she finds in contributing to groups, and her ability to figure out what needs to happen and jump in and do it, make her an excellent addition to any team.
She created an award-winning mindful movement course that she offers to a thousand school children each year in her hometown of Santa Cruz.

Yoga is for everyone. You do not need to be very experienced in it, but if you are, good for you! The morning yoga will be a traditional Hatha yoga class. We always give you easy options and more advanced ones. The pace of the class depends on the group level. There are almost always some beginners and some more experienced practitioners together on the retreat and it is a good thing since then we can learn from each other. The Morning yoga class is usually 75 minutes with pranayama and relaxation. The evening yoga is usually a combination of Yin and Restorative yoga, which will help recover your muscles for the next day hiking.
Dinners are made on spot using fresh vegetables and/or local seafood. During and after dinner we will have some discussions about the essence of yoga and the eight limbs of yoga. The retreat price doesn't include dinners, which means we collect 100 USD for 6 dinners in cash.
Please be aware that it is a very active holiday. If you need a more relaxing holiday, you are still welcome to participate, but we strongly recommend you skip some hiking trips and yoga classes. The most important things are good walking shoes, a positive mind, and the ability to listen to your own body.
