Yoga Weekend & Hiking Retreat in Norway 2024

This adventurous weekend with hiking and yoga helps you to reconnect with nature and yourself.

Overview: 

This active weekend yoga retreat will allow you to recharge your batteries while discovering or deepening your yoga practice. It is also a chance to take valuable time off. A weekend yoga retreat offers a long weekend in the fresh air with moderate hiking trips in beautiful Norway.

On arrival day, Friday, we have a welcome dinner together and an opening ceremony at the yoga studio.

We start the next day with an energizing and body-opening yoga class. This is followed by a rich breakfast buffet and a long day outdoors. We enjoy the beauty of nature, the depths of forests and fjords, and enjoy the silence and meditation on a high mountain top. Yin and restorative yoga class in the evening helps to recover the tired body. A rich and healthy vegetarian dinner will restore your energy reserves. You will sleep like a baby and the next day you are ready for your next adventure.

This yoga holiday between the fjords of Norway is a real adventure that will nourish your body, soul, and spirit. You can turn yourself off completely and make a new restart.

Location:

Molde is a city and municipality in Romsdal, in Møre and Romsdal county, Norway. It is a small town by the Moldefjord with a population of 26822. Molde is a very calm and relaxing city, famous for its amazing views. It is surrounded by fjords and close to several remarkable hiking trails and viewpoints. Book your flight to Molde, Årø airport.

We will pick you up from the Molde airport during the day, but it is best to arrive on the 16.45 or 17.00 flight from Oslo.  It is not a problem when you arrive earlier on that day or by bus or ferry. Transfer from the airport or bus station is included in the price on arrival day.

Program: 

You will start the days with pranayama and vinyasa flow yoga. After yoga, it is time to enjoy breakfast and prepare yourself for hiking. Every day is slightly different. You will have some shorter and some longer hikes, 5-8 km, about 500-700 m.a.s.l. with amazing views. During the hikes, you will find cozy places to rest and refuel, while enjoying the lunch package. Yin and/or restorative yoga after hikes helps you to stretch your muscles and recover after hikes.

The daily yoga you do during the retreat provides a good start for the day and helps you regenerate from the physical challenges of the hikes.

This helps you stay fit and will make you return home completely relaxed after your hiking and yoga holiday. After this weekend, you will have experienced fantastic hiking trails, improved your yoga skills, and met like-minded people. You will take lots of good memories with you and return home looking forward to your next trip.

Sample daily schedule:

  • 08:00 Pranayama and morning yoga
  • 09:30 Breakfast followed by commuting to the mountains

  • 16:30 Mindful restorative and Yin yoga
  • 19:00 Dinner

The arriving day is Friday and departing day is Monday. On Monday we have a morning yoga class and a breakfast.

Day 1, Friday
Arrival day. Pick up from the airport, settle into accommodation, introduce the program, meet other guests, dinner and an opening ceremony at the yoga studio.
Day 2 
Energizing morning yoga session, breakfast, pack lunch.
Hiking Tusenårsvarden 523 m.a.s.l. or Varden viewpoint 407 m.a.s.l. 6-10 km.
After the hike, we return to the yoga studio for an afternoon yin yoga session and dinner.
Day 3 
Strengthening morning yoga session, followed by breakfast and pack lunch.
Hiking.
After the hike, we return to the yoga studio for an afternoon yin yoga session and dinner.
Day 4
Morning yoga session, followed by breakfast.
All good things must come to an end but only till next time! We transfer you to the airport and say goodbye!
Depending on participants' comfort level and the weather, this itinerary is subject to change.

Accommodation: 

The hotel is located in the city center and the comfortable but simple rooms include a private bathroom, shower, toiletries, and free wireless internet. You can choose between a single or a double room. The hotel name is Thon Hotel Moldefjord, address Storgata 40, Molde.

Food: 

Dinners are made by our chef, using local vegetables and/or fresh Norwegian seafood, or eating at the cafe or restaurant. Healthy desserts like banana bread, fruit salads, raw chocolate, or bliss balls are served after dinner. During or after dinner we will have some discussions about the essence of yoga and the eight limbs of yoga. The retreat price doesn't include dinners. We will collect 230 NOK for 1 dinner, and 690 NOK for 3 dinners for participants.

Booking and refund options: 

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 1000 NOK
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is canceled up to 30 days before the arrival date
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival and is non-refundable.

Additional Information: 

Yoga is for everyone. You do not need to be very experienced in it, but if you are, good for you! The morning yoga will be a traditional Hatha yoga class. I always give you easy options and more advanced ones. The pace of the class depends on the group level. There are almost always some beginners and some more experienced practitioners together on the retreat and it is a good thing since then we can learn from each other. The Morning yoga class is usually 75 minutes with pranayama and relaxation.

Please be aware that it is a very active holiday. If you have some injuries or knee problems, please take your walking sticks with you. The most important things are good walking shoes, a positive mind, and the ability to listen to your own body.

The weather in Norway may change rapidly. If it is raining heavily there is an option to spend a day in a local water park Moldebadet, visit the museum or have a raw chocolate workshop.

The currency in Norway is Norwegian Krone (NOK).
