Yoga Retreat location information:

Molde is nestled within the stunning landscapes of Romsdal in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. With its modest population of 26,822, it offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life while still offering all the comforts of the city, like trim, cozy cafes, restaurants, and hotels.

This coastal city is renowned for its breathtaking vistas, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Molde's location along the picturesque Moldefjord grants it a sense of serenity that few places can match. The surrounding fjords further enhance its charming setting, creating a captivating backdrop for the city.

Molde is a gateway to a world of outdoor exploration, boasting access to many remarkable hiking trails and viewpoints. The city's proximity to these natural wonders makes it an ideal base camp for those eager to immerse themselves in the beauty of Norway's rugged landscapes.

Book your flight to Molde, Årø airport.

We will pick you up from the Molde airport on your arrival day, but arriving between 15.00 and 18.00 from Oslo or Bergen is best. Arriving earlier that day or by bus is not a problem. Transfer from the airport or bus station is included in the price only on that day. On the first day, we have a welcome dinner and opening circle at 18.30.

Program: 

Day 1, Friday
Arrival day: You will be picked up from the airport, settled into accommodation, introduced to the program, meet other guests, and attend the opening ceremony and dinner.
Book your flight upon arrival in Molde no later than 5:50 pm.
Day 2 
Energizing morning yoga and pranayama sessions, breakfast at the hotel buffet, and a packed lunch.
Hiking Tusenårsvarden 523 m.a.s.l. or Varden viewpoint 407 m.a.s.l. 6-10 km. Swimming in the mountain lake.
After the hike, we return to the yoga studio for an afternoon yin yoga session, and dinner at the local restaurant or cafe.
Day 3 
Strengthening morning yoga session, followed by breakfast and a packed lunch.
Troll Church 484 m.a.s.l. Consists of three exciting limestone and marble grottos with underground streams and a beautiful waterfall. On the surface, to the west of the uppermost cave is a lake with white marble "jetties". Braver hikers can swim in the mountain lake. The mountain behind the Trolls' church is distinctive, with jagged points and spires. Sometimes, we hike only to the caves and lake, 8 km, but with real adventurers, we hike further over the mountain ridge (832 m.a.s.l.) and make a loop back to the cave. Guests can choose how long they want to hike this day. After the hike, we return for a restorative yoga session and a delicious meal at the local restaurant.
Day 4 
Morning yoga, followed by breakfast and a packed lunch.
Hiking to Jendemsfjellet, 633 m.a.s.l., is a mountain near Molde with a breathtaking 360-degree view over the fjords and mountains. We can choose between a shorter or longer 4-6 km trail. Floating sauna with cold plunge and an afternoon yoga session at the yoga studio.
Day 5 
Morning yoga, breakfast, and packed lunch, followed by a ferry trip and driving to Trollstiegen.
Trollstiegen, or the Troll ladder/road, is a famous mountain road with narrow curves and sharp hairpin bends. The road has 11 hairpin curves and an elevation of 850 m. Every bend has its name. The road is narrow with a gradient of 9 %, but passing pockets have been incorporated, and traffic flows typically without a problem. An impressive bridge of natural stone carries it across the Stigfossen waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Norway. Stigfossen is an unregulated and powerful waterfall with a total height of 240 m, from which 180 m is almost a single drop. Guests can choose if they want to drive up or hike. Kløvstien hike - the path is preserved as a cultural heritage, and much effort has been put into maintaining the path. Stone steps and chains are making challenging parts more accessible and safer.
Day 6 
After morning yoga, breakfast, and a packed lunch, we take off on a road trip to the Atlantic Road.
The Atlantic Road has National Tourist Route status, and the entire stretch between Bud and Kristiansund is a continuous experience packed with coastal scenery, culture, and history. In 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian hailed the road that crosses this “infamous stretch of the ocean” as the world’s best road trip. The 8.3 km (5 miles) road, with eight bridges totaling 891 meters, is built on several small islands and skerries and spans eight bridges and several landfills.
We will hike Sjurvarden, 667 m.a.s.l if the weather allows. If not, we will take an 8 km coastal walk. The mountain stretches to the sea, giving a robust view of Hustadvika, the Atlantic Ocean, and the coastal landscape from Sunnmøre in the west and Smøla on Nordmøre in the north.
Day 7 
Morning yoga and breakfast.
All good things must end, but only until next time! We will transfer you to the airport and say goodbye!
Depending on participants' comfort level and the weather, this itinerary is subject to change.

Accommodation: 

You can choose between a hotel room (Thon Hotel or Scandic Alexandra) or a single or double bedroom in a local home.
Thon Hotel Moldefjord is a charming and inviting accommodation nestled in the heart of Molde, 7 min. walking distance from the yoga studio Molde Yoga Pilates. With its stunning waterfront location, this hotel offers guests breathtaking views of the picturesque Moldefjord and the surrounding mountains.The comfortable but simple rooms include a private bathroom, shower, toiletries, and free wireless internet. You can choose between a single or a double room. The hotel's address is Storgata 40, Molde. If you want more privacy and time alone we strongly recommend you choose to stay at the hotel. If you prefer a more luxurious room, please let us know.
Scandic Alexandra Hotel is located just acros the street from Thon Hotel and is a little bit bigger hotel, address Storgata1-7.

Accommodation in an apartment is a local home. You will share the bathroom with 2-4 other participants. Those accommodations are located in different parts of the city and are within walking distance from the yoga studio.

Food: 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel’s buffet, offering a wide selection of breads, pastries, cheeses, eggs, meats, fish, cereals, yoghurts, and fresh fruit. Everyone can create a breakfast that suits their taste.

Lunch for the hike will be packed to go, prepared from the breakfast buffet selection.

We’ll begin our journey together with a shared opening circle dinner – a nourishing vegan or vegetarian dish prepared with care. For the rest of the evenings, you can follow your taste buds and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll find a delicious mix of options, from fragrant Indian dishes to fresh seafood and other local specialties.
